FAQs

What are the key safety tips for burning candles?

Always trim the wick, keep candles away from flammable materials, and never leave a burning candle unattended. Use candle holders that catch wax drips and ensure candles are placed on a stable surface.

Is there a recommended burn time for candles?

Follow the candle manufacturer's instructions for burn time. Generally, it's advisable to burn candles for 1-4 hours to prevent tunneling, uneven melting, and carbon buildup.

Can I burn any candle in a drafty area?

Burning candles in drafty areas can lead to uneven burning. Try to place candles away from drafts to ensure an even and steady burn.

What precautions should I take when burning candles in containers?

Use proper containers designed for candle burning to prevent heat damage. Place container candles on heat-resistant surfaces and avoid burning them for extended periods to prevent overheating.

How can I prevent tunneling in pillar candles?

Allow the entire surface of the pillar candle to melt during the first burn. This helps prevent tunneling and ensures an even burn in subsequent uses.

Are there any safety tips for burning candles with multiple wicks?

Ensure all wicks are lit simultaneously to prevent uneven burning. Follow the manufacturer's guidelines for burning multi-wick candles.

Can I move a candle while it's burning?

It's best to avoid moving a candle while it's lit to prevent wax spillage and potential accidents. Extinguish the flame, move the candle, and then relight if necessary.

How can I extinguish a candle without creating excessive smoke?

Use a candle snuffer to gently extinguish the flame. This helps prevent excessive smoke and ensures a cleaner burning experience.

What should I do if my candle starts smoking excessively?

Excessive smoke may indicate a wick that is too long or impurities in the wax. Blow out the candle, trim the wick, and relight. If the issue persists, discontinue use and consult the manufacturer.

My candle leaves a little wax on the sides while or after burning it. Why is that?

This is known as "hang-up" and it’s actually quite normal especially towards the top and middle of the candle. It usually catches up as the candle burns, but small amounts of hang up or film is completely normal. If you find that after a couple of burn sessions you notice that there is a extreme amount (about 1/4") and in some extreme cases, of burning a hole down the middle (tunneling) while can occur for a number of reasons is best to avoid.

There could be multiple factors can contribute to tunneling. Improperly or cheaply made candles is one cause. A mistake during production by using the incorrect wick size, is another. Not burning the candle long enough (3-4 hours each burn) is another.

We use premium ingredients and all our recipes including wax, fragrance, and wicks have been tested to ensure we provide the best candle possible. Sometimes, however, that doesn't necessarily completely prevent this issue from occurring but it does reduces its chances.

Each time you burn a candle, should try and burn it at least until the wax pool reaches the edge (or very near the edge) of the container... even if it barely reaches. On average this is around 3-5 hours of burn time depending on the container and/or the number of wicks. Often your candle will self-correct as it burns down, but if the tunneling is bad enough, it may not be able to.

I’ve burned my candle for a few hours and know the wick has a “mushroom” on it. Why?

It is not uncommon for a “mushroom” to form after burning it for more than the recommended time. This is call “mushrooming” and it happens when the wax melts faster than the wick can consume it; often times occurring when burning for longer periods of time than the recommend time of four hours. This is completely normal, and serves as a gentle reminder that the wick needs to be trimmed prior to each burn and that the candle shouldn’t be burned past the recommend time.

How long before my order ships?

Our candles are usually made to order. Depending on the size of the order, we can usually prepare the candle and ship it within 2-3 business days from the time of checkout. There may be instances where will delay a drop off at a shipping location during the hot summer months. In those cases, we try to ship on Monday-Wednesdays, maybe Thursdays depending on the estimated delivery day provided by the shipping location. This avoids your candle sitting in a hot truck over the weekend. As the ordering of candles during warmer months carries a risk of melting, we cannot assume responsibility for melted candles and other wax products. While we ensure all our shipments, it's important to note that melted wax is not covered by carriers such as FedEx, USPS, etc.

Please keep in mind that ordering during the holiday season, shipping delay from shipping carriers, are common and to be expected. We will do our best to ship your candles in our timeline but once they have been dropped off to a shipping carrier, shipping delays are out of our control.

How do I clean up spilled wax from surfaces?

Allow the wax to cool and harden before attempting to clean. Gently scrape off excess wax with a plastic tool, then use a hairdryer or warm iron with a cloth to remove any remaining residue from surfaces.
